Windows vista aad xp

I have a touchssmart iq770,i did windows updates on it las week and hp updatees on it,left it running then came home and pc had frooze,would not let me reboot or anything so had to reinstall,got 85%through it then pc would just stop,did the same with windows 7 aswell,tried windows xp and that went on fine but the drivers i require for pc are not avalible for xp,now is it a hardware failure or could it be memorey

Memory is hardware. From the sound of things, would be a good idea to try new RAM with the system.
