So, I'm going back to XP...too sick of Vista in my home AD environment.
I'm really having sound issues though. I had onboard sound via a realtek device (gigabyte 965p-ds3) and I think I have it disabled.
So, sound is working fine in XP clean install but if I install the x-fi drivers, though it says they are working...I get no sound. I can't figure out what is happening. Doesn't appear to have a conflict. The only way I can get it to work is using a restore point before the driver install. Then, I just have a splat on multimedia audio controller.
I'm stumped right now and I have tried everything i can think of. Creative's site has been down for at least two days...you can hit it via soundblaster.com but if you try to do anything (drivers, knowledge base, forum) it poops out.
A little more info...I took out the SB card and tried some more on the onboard audio. Seems to be an issue with the Microsoft UAA Bus driver for high definition audio. I've used the MS patch for XPSP2 but still no dice. If I disable the aforementioned device, sound works fine.
Appears to be a major issue for Gigabyte customers.
So, I've got it working but I don't like the solution at all.
