I was wondering if i could use this hard disk drive
http://www.compusa.com/application [...] &CatId=139
In my Dell dimension e510 desktop pc
It has the standard motherboard, im only concerend because this is a sata-300 drive and ive been told that this board only supports sata-150, but you can use this drive if you jumper it, but ive also been told if you jump to 150 from 300 it voids the warranty? <- dumbest thing ive ever heard but i would like some imput please.

Customer added jumper wires
does that mean switching the jumper?

Jumper wires are not the same as jumpers. Jumper wires usually are soldered on the board and that would void your warranty. Adding a jumper as per OPT1
http://wdc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wd [...] ed=#jumper to limit the transfer rate to 150MB/s will not void the warranty.

I have a few 300MB/s drives connected to SATA 150 PCs and they work fine.

Yes, but why a 3 foot cable? An 18-inch cable should be long enough: http://www.compusa.com/application [...] 5&CatId=84

If your PSU doesn't include SATA connectors, you could consider a kit like this one: http://www.compusa.com/application [...] 4&CatId=84

my psu has a sata connector but 18inches isnt enough too keep it out of the ways of my fans, and i have have lots of trouble finding a 24inch cable, do you know a good place to get these?
