I'm new to this so please bear with me, I want to OC my system from 2.5 to 3.0. My build is:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300
EVGA 790i Ultra
2gigs of CORSAIR XMS3 DHX 2GB (2 x 1GB)DDR3 1600 TW3X2G1600C9DHX
EVGA 9800 GX2

The timings on my ram are 9-9-9-24

I've been playing around with it but I keep crashing some go for a while but end up failing in Test # 7 which is [random number sequence]

What i'm hoping someone can help me with is to figure out the settings I should use with this equipment in order to get this up and running.

should my memory be linked/unlinked?
should it be set to 5:4/3:2/synronous
what should I set the FSB and DDR to?
What voltages should I give the voltages option?

I've been playing around with it but I keep crashing some go for a while but end up failing in Test # 7 which is [random number sequence]

Thanks for any help offered

I saw this forum post earlier, I have mine ram set up at 1600 @ 9-9-9-24 2T with 1.8 volts as reccommened from corsair, the problem is that I am trying to get to 3000Mhz for my cpu, i have the ram unlinked and at 1600, as well as the fsb at 1600 in order to get 7.5 (my multiplier) to yield 3000Mhz.

My cpu voltage is at set on the mobo at 1.4000 but actual is 1.36 i believe.

cpu bus is auto
memory is at 1.8
the rest is all on auto

i've also disabled all the spreading options
disabled all the options under cpu config except for the cores of course
i try to load windows and reboots.

Need helps still is there something i'm overlooking?

I have a Q9300 and a 790i Ultra with corsair DDR3. I was wondering if you were able to successfully overclock this system and how??? I've been trying for awhile now with no luck.

Vista home premium 64 bit
intel q9300
evga 790i Ultra
evga 9800 gx2
2 Gb corsair DDR3

Yah I was able to do so:

CPU 3.375GHz
CPU Voltage 1.40000 (Actual voltage in CPUz is 1.368
FSB 1800 MHz
RAM 1800 MHz @1.9V (I oc'd the ram from 1600 to 1800)
9-9-9-24

Please reply and let me know if this works for you
I have the same graphics card as you too, my 3dMark score is 17019
let me know what you get on this if you get it to work Good luck

Either one of you flashed the BIOS on your motherboards yet? I flashed mine last night using the nForce flasher. At first it seemed to work alright. Then I started getting corruptions and Vista 32 failed. I finally had to reinstall Vista. Then corruption kept coming back. :fou: I had checked the box that told the BIOS to clear when it rebooted, but I'm wondering if it really didn't clear it since the RAM timings were the same. So I had time before work to open it up and clear the BIOS with the jumper, and tonight I'm gonna try to reload everything again.

Edit....I've got the same RAM too...which is why I asked, and I was also curious about the OC endevors.

overclocked my q9300 to 3ghz. Never seen my comp this stable sense i upped the cpu to 3.0 ghz .

finding solid stability when overclocking cpu i found fairly complex when it came to the voltages. i had to increase cpu core, cpufsb, and mcp.

to maintain stability at 3.0 ghz the figures are

-cpu core 1.20625
-cpu fsb 1.20v
-spp 1.35
-mcp 1.55

Also memory and fsb are unlinked all the cpu spectrums are off.

2x 2gig 1333mhz ram (1.80v)

At these settings i was able to run prime95 for 17/h . under stress test the 4 cores were mid 70's i use a cooler aster after market fan with heatsink pipes.
when i am running eq2 and many internet pages i rarely breach 60 on any core usually mid 50's

I am looking forward to reching3.5ghz on my q9300, anyone with some tips welcome to email me at crewe420@hotmail.com
