Combat flight simulator windows vista 32

Why wont my sidewinder joystick work with combat flight simulator. My PC can see the the joystick and I am able to calibrate it,but the joystick wont work with combat flight simulator. Has anyone any ideas on how to resolve this problem.

If your joystick uses a gameport, it wont work on Vista. There is NO
gameport support in Vista. Only USB types will work. There may be some sort
of gameport to USB adapter you could get.
