Add Remove Programs problem

My brothers laptop does not have a Add remove programs button.....i also tried the method where you go to disk cleanup and click more options then click installed programs to bring it up and that also didnt work. it was there but when i click it nothing happens. i have no idea what it could be. windows XP i cannot figure it out. its like the utility is gone.

Try scanning for malware using 2 programs:

Restart your computer in "Safe Mode with Networking Support"
(To do this: Power on your computer and start tapping the F8 key at the top of your keyboard rapidly until the Windows Start Menu appears. Then select the Safe Mode with Networking Support menu option and press the Enter key)

Open your web browser and go to www.malwarebytes.org

Download their free AntiMalware program.

Install the program on your computer, run it, update and do a full scan.
(You may be asked to restart. Do so, but use F8 key to return to Safe Mode)

Then restart your computer in Normal mode.
Go to www.superantispyware.com and download superantispyware
Install this program and update it.
Click on the Preferences button and then the Repairs tab
Apply these repairs and you should be back to normal

Let us know the results of the scan and whether or not any symptoms persist and we will troubleshoot deeper.

I ran both the scans just as you said before it found a few little things but nothing really and it didnt change the issue =/

Sounds like the registry is hosed. Try running a chkdsk. One sure way to fix the problem is to do a repair install.

I'd suggest trying a registry repair.
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

If that doesn't work, a windows repair should fix it.
