I recently got a pc from a friend. I promissed to format it an reinstall winxp before i began to use it. MB is an asus p5vdc-mx with a celeron cpu. Hard disk is a hitachi sata.
In bbios i chanced boot options to boot from cd. And i tried to boot up on my XP cd. But i did not boot from my cd, only on drive C. I took out the disk, and a friend off mine connectede it to his raid controller, and made low level format. Then i took the back to my pc, and now I could boot from cd, but under the installation, windows could not find any harddisk. Bios can't find a disk either. I tried to find "disable AHCI" in bios, but i could not find it.
I don't have any driver cd. I hope you can help me

You have to set the SATA controller to IDE mode.
There will be a setting for it as well, however take note that the BIOS should find the drive no matter what mode you have it set.
You have not got something connected correctly if the BIOS does not see the drive.
And, for what's it worth, you should not low level format an IDE or SATA drive.

don't worry man
go into bios and find out for native sata support
disable it and save settings.you will be able to install windows now successfully
