Well today I had my 939 motherboard fail on me, so instead of replacing that old board with another old board I have decided to build a new system. I already have the hard drive, the powersupply, and some case fans.

Here is what I have picked out so far:

Grand Total: $631.34 with shipping and tax.

I was wondering about my powersupply, I was going to use my Rosewill 500 Watt but I am not sure if that will be sufficient for this setup, can anyone give me advice on that? and overall how does this setup look? I'm not familiar with G.Skill ram I've heard good things about them, but then again I've heard good things about Corsair and got 2 bad kits of ram from them, so I dont know lol I figure I'd give G.Skill a go.

I was curious if I should wait until after the holidays to start purchasing parts? I'm definitely waiting for free shipping on that Centurion 5 case, that will knock about 16$ off the total. Will there be better deals after the holidays, or are the good deals now.. I'm not sure what to do.

Re: power req: a 450W PSU for a HD3850 pc or 550W for Crossfire. Get a brand name one:

The list looks good overall. There are deals. i.e. ABIT IP35-E at newegg is on sale. These case are $50 each after rebate:

Personally, I would rather NOT drive around a shopping mall for 3 hours for a parking space or wait for ages for the webpages to load during the holidays. Plus, even if you get in, you're probably out of luck cuz you're not the only one who knows the deals. Get them when they're on sale any time.

I hear that, what's your opinion on the ram?

Your PSU, if it is a real 500watt, should be fine. I ran an oc'd 8800gts & a c2d oc'd to 3.3ghz on a 500watt seasonic without issues. The 3850 eats about the same amount of power @ full load as a 8800gts. While I would recommend getting a better PSU just because, it's not needed if your current one works. Save the $$ for something else.

Ram doesn't matter one bit if you don't overclock. Get the best deal.

Thank you for the replies I appreciate it.

I ordered the ram and the c2d, the ram was $40 off and $5 off the c2d, both with free shipping.

:D
