Hello,
I have a CD I´m trying to use but PC tells me that whats on CD is older than that on PC, it won´t let me install it and PC is working very slowly. How do I go about this please?
I could reinstall old version and get an update later on can´t I?
Many thanks

The system has Service Packs on it that the CD can't recognise so you need either to slipstream a new CD with all the Packs included - well, SP3 anyway - or cure the problem another way without the Recovery Console. Slowness is often caused by simple clutter or very unpleasant malware. Which do you suspect?

The PC came without a CD so I copied one.
But isn´t the system copied in i386, could I not reinstall from there.
How would I do that, I am ignorant when it comes to computers.
Many thanks.

There's a lot more to XP than is stored in the i386 folder. You would need to have an XP CD to copy into a folder, then a copy of SP3 to put in another one and to follow the instructions to slipstream so well explained by Paul Thurrot at this website http://www.winsupersite.com.
