Hey guys.

I custom built my PC a few years ago and im a little out of the loop now. basically ive been in an ATI nightmare, driver issues like crazy when i bought a new card. So im done with them, switching over to the NVIDEA 8800GT, i currently use an AMD 3400+ as a processor. Can you guys reccomend a good motherboard? 150 to 250 dollars would be the price range

thanks so much

It's hard to find Socket 939 mobos anymore. Better off saving that money and build a new system.

I'm kinda in the same position at the moment. using AMD 64 3200 and my motherboard fried a week ago. I can either replace it or buy a new system. :\

So basically in order to continue using the same processor i need to find a socket 939 motherboard. And in order to use that motherboard with the 8800 GT i have to make sure its a PCI board, am i correct?

Id like to avoid spending to much. On the other side of things can someone recomend a good motherboard/CPU combo, preferably intel?

You might want to check this thread. Nevermind the title. Look at Wolfshadw's reply in the middle. That system advice may work for you if you want a new cheap system. Otherwise yeah, that would cover your needs.

One other thing, some of the pci socket 939 motherboards im looking at say PCI 16x and PCI-E, what do i need to look out for

Look for Nforce4 chipsets with no onboard video. They work with only pci-e 16x cards. Newegg had a foxconn board with onboard video for $37 plus shipping in their email newsletter recently. Those boards work ok; just a little slower. They also had a foxconn nforce4 board for around $50 recently.

Thanks for all the replies, i think this is my last question, which intel cpu would be the minimum as far as not bottlenecking my 8800GT?
