That PSU will handle 3850 / 3870 / 8800GT / 8800GTS with no problem.
Keep an eye out on the 3850/3870 prices when the 8800GT/256MB version is released soon.
A very good buy -3850 @ $170- might become even better.

Last week I saw the Evga 8800GT 256 listed on the Evga Products page but it wasnt left up long. Probably just doing a test for when it is finally available. It's up and listed in the XFX website
Here is the deal, the 3850 supports DX 10.1 the 8800 GT doesn't. Will the added DX 10.1 support give a boost in the future like when SP1 comes out for vista? I have Vista home premium. Although the 8800 gt seems to be faster....... but like you said earlier when the 256 8800GT comes out the deals on the 3850 might get better. It would be great if they would come down to $150 ........................

SP1 and Vista = Zero benefits for DX 10.1 UNLESS a game is designed with DX10.1 features. Even if a game has DX 10.1 features programmed in it will play just Fine on DX 10 hardware - much the same way that current DX10 capable games play great on DX 9 hardware.
It's a tough call to say which is better on a 1280x1024 or 1440x900 LCD. Hopefully we'll see a lot more benchmarks in the week or two ahead so by the time prices do fall you got a lot more info to go on. An early guess would bet that you cant go wrong if you get a 3850 or 8800GT/256 if you're on a tight budget.
I am on a fairly tight buget. I would like to keep it around $150 bucks. And how long will it be before they even start making games with DX 10.1? But i will probably go for the 3850 because I want future proof.(i know i know no such thing in computer world........)

I just got my 3870, today, will be installing tonight. I have the same power supply. I was told the same, that it should be plenty for one card. I have read that the 3870 might need as much as 32A combined in the 12V rails. That PS has 36A combined. The 3850 requires slightly less.
I personally went with the 3870 because it has an external heat exhaust and 512M. I need the 512M to push resolution for my 22" HD widescreen monitor. I want that heat out of my case. Otherwise, the price and performance wasn't really all that different. I know the 8800GT has better FPS on most games but would i really notice it. Both are great cards.
A very good friend just installed a 3850 monday. He says its the best thing he has ever bought for a computer. He is very happy. He is having some driver issues with Vista, otherwise he is happy.
