I just bought a new usb external hard disk (seagate free agent). It came with its own drive management software (back up software).

Now the question that I wanna ask is that is it really necessary to install the software provided, which also has various utilities like hard disk power management, drive test and such, or is it better off without it.What are the advantages and disadvantages of these softwares.I am pretty much comfortable with the copy paste procedure of backing up one file at a time.

Would like to hear the story from the horses mouth, please no word to mouth stories.thank you
(I don't know whether I am posting my query at the right place. If not my humble apologies,I would request this question to be moved to the appropriate place.)
