How to resset system password wont take my personal p/w.

Hello,
studio 1535 dell is protected by aauthentication system cannot access the data w/o the correct p/word y have this p/word for 3 years and now when i open the comp. wont take my password.somebody told me that dell have to POWER ON.TRUE?
