I am pretty new to Overclock, but took the time to look around the Web and do a good review of what is out there. Really appreciated the Core two - Quad duo temperature and the overclock guide, I think it is two of the better written guides out there. So I decided to use this forum to ask my questions. I could simply give you my system specs and hope for an expert to give me data I can use, but I prefer trying to really understand what I do, so here are my questions :
The way I understand it, Coretemp register the Tjunction value (core temp) and specify a Tjunction max of 85 degrees for my E6700 L2 stepping.
Occt, records Tjunction (core temp) and puts a max Tjunction of 70 Degrees. This leads to my first question :
Where does throtling start to happen ? at Tjunction 70 or Tjunction 85 ? or none of them ?
Speedfan has a Tjunction and Tcase reading and start showing the little flame symbol at around 55 degrees for the core.
Now Intel are only supplying temperature guidelines for TCase wich are around 60 dregrees for my L2 stepping E6700.
I should use 5-7 degrees differential to Tcase meaning Intel is suggesting an actual max Tjunction temp of 65-67 ? As what you are suggesting in the temperature Guide ? Is this where the Throtling happens ?
