Hi all, I am about to buy an 8800GT (as soon as a shop within reasonable distance to my house actually gets some in stock at a non-ridiculous price), and I have a few considerations beforehand. I want to overclock the card (mainly because a few fps makes a difference in Crysis) and want to know how my warranty would be affected by doing so. Now obviously if the card maker KNOWS the card has been overclocked, they will not honour the warranty (unless it's a company that covers overclocking), but if all I have done is oc from Rivatuner, is there any way for them to know? Thanks.
Not really, but if you live stateside, buy evga, you can overclock to your hearts content, as well as using a different cooler, which is good being as the GT runs a lil hot and is loud when the fans cranked

Thanks for the reply mate, I didn't think there would be any way for them to know, but I feel more comfortable now that an expert has confirmed it for me. I live in Australia, so the eVGA step-up is irrelevant to me, but the warranty side of it is good, however I'm at the point where I am beyond caring about the brand, I just want the card.
The EVGA warranty states that as long as you dont physically damage the PCB or any of th ecomponents on the board you are fine.

Thanks guys, in the end I got a Leadtek, not because that's what I had my heart set on, but because that's what I could get my hands on. The shop that had stock had the XFX at the same price ($389 AUD) as the Leadtek, however were out of stock, and I had to grab whatever I could find at a not-completely-ridiculous price. Those XFX and eVGA warranties are great btw, it sounds like those companies are run by computer enthusiasts, rather than suits who think the public are idiots, and I would have bought their card if I could have got my hands on one. Interesting to see how far it will go (I would not have changed the heatsink on it anyway). Thnx for your help everyone.
