My PSU fried and seems it took the MB with it :(

I ordered a new Gigabyte board and was wondering what steps should be followed installing the processor into the new board.

Mostly I am concerned with the compound on the E6600 and cooling fan. How do I remove it and put on new compound properly? Do I indeed need to do this or can I reuse what is on there now?

Thanks for your help :)

Yes you should clean off the cpu and heatsink with isopropyl alcohol. Then when applying new thermal paste, you can either put a dab in the middle of the CPU and let the heatsink spread it out or you can spread it out yourself then put the heatsink on.
