Hello all,

I just recently built a new computer and im thinking of overclocking my CPU, e8400.

I wanted to know what i can overclock it to using the standard cooler which came with the CPU.

parts:
e8400
2gig Corsair Dominator DDR2 1066, i have 4 gig but motherboard only allows 2 :(
Asus P5kpl-e
Corsair 620 Watt PSU
XFX 9800gx2

Thanks for the help.

Since the E8400 temps are usually flakey and show up hotter then they really are, I would say overclocking to 3.6mhz is your safe zone with the stock cooler. Definately get a better cooler for 4.0+mhz. A $30 artic freezer pro or xigmatek would be a good investment because this thing is made for overclocking. If you read reviews on newegg people using the stock cooler all the way up to 4.0mhz so the new e8400's probably have better sensors on'em.
