help, my ati x700 graphics card is doing somethign really wierd

Hi all at tomshardware.

i am about to get a new pc around christmas so i am going to sell this pc, however my graphics card in the pc has started to make this horrible wuring noise when i start my pc up, this noise stops after like 2-3mins but then like 1hour later comes back.

i know its the graphics card because i have replaced it with an older card and the noise has stopped

any of you guys know what is wrong, ive looked around the board and cant find anything wrong with it. (but i am no computer pro)

help would be great :)

Have you tried cleaning the card could be as simple as dust caked on the fan unbalancing it,but it kind of sounds like the bearings may be dieing.
Give it a clean and see what you get.

My 9800 Pro does the same thing. It's the bearings inside the fan. I'm going to have to replace the whole fan for the noise to go away, I'm not entirely sure if yours has the same problem though.

xD hoovered it so bearly any dust, yet the noise is still there
guess it must be the fan bearings

replacing the fan/heatsink is your bets option, the fan is dieing. There are alot of different one you can get, I would go with a zalman one.
