Currently I have a x1900xt and I game at 1680x1050. My x1900xt seems fine still but I want to use this computer to dual boot a linux distro. My budget is about $300. I have seen the new 8800GT's but they don't really max out at my resolution I game at. Should I wait for the even newer Nvidia cards to come out? Say like in Jan something that can really handle the newer games? Or should I just buy an 8800GT? Games I play are Supreme Commander, COD4, Crysis.
Thanks,

I'd get the HD3850 with 512MB of VRAM on it. It's not as expensive, and performs quite well.

I think the question in regards to the 8800GT is if you can find one in stock... =/

for 300 all you're going to get is the 8800GT.

The newer cards will definitely be more expensive than that so settle for the GT.
