A friend of mine built a computer in August and he chose the AMD processor. I asked him why, and he said basically that the AMD overclocks better. This is wrong, no?

definitely wrong, he'd be lucky to get a 300-400mhz OC on the 6000+

Either of the C2Ds paired with a half decent mobo pretty much guarantees a 1ghz OC

Typical X2 6000+ overclock is around 3.3 - 3.4GHz.

Typical E6550/E6750 overclock is around 3.6GHz. Add to that a 25% IPC advantage, which makes it equivalent to a 4.5GHz X2.

Instructions per clock.

Basically, the higher, the better.
