I have an Asus an87x mobo with updated BIOS and i cleared the cmos and removed the Battery to test other cpu's

I had to UpDate the bios to support Sempron cpu's
now it wont post with same sempron CPU

i tried a XP2000 cpu it now shuts down before post NOTE xp2000 cpu may be Bad ?

Does removing the battery overnight and clearing the CMOS delete the UPDATED BIOS ?????

any help is apreacited

you mean the great ASUS A7N8X, and no, updating the bios writes it into the BIOS ROM, by removing the battery it clears the CMOS, so no. Those boards are becoming rare, and the last seem to be going up lately so dont rule dead motherboard out.

If it didnt delete the updated BIOS then my sempron chips should post then it still .. yet the dont????...its getting frustrating
i hope the xp2000 chip did'nt fry all 3 mobo's
please read my other post

in cpu forum
thanks

A cpu won't fry anything. It's the movement in and out of the board you have to be careful with. Anytime you change the cpu, take your time and be sure you don't get any moisture or thermal paste where it shouldn't be.
