Hello, i'm new to custom build, i need you guys opinion, i was planing to get a Intel q9450 and hoping to overclock to 3.4ghz or 3.6ghz, can you guys give me an advise which package is the best choice:


Package 1
q9450 +
ASUS P5E3 PREMIUM +
OCZ Platinum 4GB DDR3 1600
(I gonna broke for a while -.-)

Or

Package 2
q9450 +
ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA +
OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 8GB (4x2gb) DDR2 800


I have a very old pc and i think is time to get a good one, If Package 2 is better, should i get the ddr1066 or stay with ddr800? I'm a new guys and still learning , i'm not really sure what is the difference between ddr2 and ddr3 (except the price), thank you for your help!!

determine the fsb you will run with the overclock. if you want to get above 1600 fsb, you'll want faster ddr2. either way I say go with the second DDR2 option

Currently, DDR3 is not worth the money. Get DDR2, preferably 1066MHz.

For a great mid-level motherboard, I recommend the Asus P5k-e, which is known for it's great OCing capability.
