Hello,

I'm looking to upgrade my video card to run the new Crysis game. My current specs are:

Mainboard : Gigabyte GA-M55SLI-S4
Chipset : nVidia nForce4
Processor : AMD Athlon 64 3500+ @ 2200 MHz
Physical Memory : 3072 MB (3 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM )
Video Card : Nvidia Corp GeForce 7900 GT/GTO

I run the game now and its horrible, I want to play the game with max resolution and high settings. (AA doesn't matter)

I was thinking about buying two these cards and setting them up for sli.

XFX PVT84JUDD3 GeForce 8600GT XXX 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

I'm looking for suggestions, Price range under $300 for a card.

Thanks,

GPU: Nvidia GeForce 7900 GT/GTO
RAM: G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800

Since you have a SLI motherboard then I would suggest a 8800 GT. A single 8800 GT is better than two 8600GTs in SLI. You can also add another one in SLI down the road if you need more performance.

I was thinking about that, I was thinking two of those cards would be better than one 8800. Can you pm a link to a cheap and good 8800 card.

The 7900GT/GTO you currently have is no slouch. I suspect your problems are more closely related to your single-core processor.

What I would recommend is drop $120 on an X2 5200+ processor upgrade and check performance again.

SLi is kinda iffy still. Some games see nice benefits from it, but in a lot of cases SLi doesn't do much.

I'd definitely get one 8800GT. 8600s are BAD.
One 8800GT rivals the GTX in performance.

Wolfshadw does your pc run crysis all the way up? I'm starting to push towards the idea of one 8800 card. but where can u get cheap? I know my cpu is crap looking to buy new one soon. I have another computer which is a AMD Athlon X2 3800 or 4000 I forgot but the gameplay on crysis is crap. It has the same card also and 2 gigs of ram.
