Cannot access old User Profile files

Last response: in Windows Vista

I reinstalled vista on my laptop. Before I did this I copied my old user directory (Rico) to my external HDD and renamed it to Rico.Old.
I'm now trying to access the files within that directory again but with no luck.
I've given myself (via Administrator) full rights.
If I right-click > properties, then I can see there are 4000 files and that the folder is 4.5GB big, but via explorer I cannot "see" them.
Please help.

You may need to take ownership of the files. You could also try changing the options in Explorer to display hidden and system files.
