Sending SMS using AJAX through HTTP

January 24, 2013 6:29:42 AM

Hey guys. For my project, I needed to find a way to send SMS messages from AJAX using HTTP. It turns out, there's a solution to send messages from AJAX using HTTP requestes and a software called Ozeki NG SMS Gateway.

You can download, install and configure Ozeki NG SMS Gateway software to your computer, than download the source code from their oezkisms webpage.

They say this code is particularly useful for

• add SMS functionality to a website.
• add SMS functionality to a corporate Intranet.
• create automated SMS notifications.
• increase website security by adding SMS login.

Here is a part of the source code:

smssend.js
...
function GetXmlHttpObject()
{
var xmlHttp = null;
try
{
// Firefox, Opera 8.0+, Safari
xmlHttp = new XMLHttpRequest();
}
catch (e)
{
// Internet Explorer
try
{
xmlHttp = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP");
}
catch (e)
{
xmlHttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
}
}
return xmlHttp;
}
...

What do you think? Have anyone tried this before? Thomas
