we bought this computer for my mom for christmas, and I'm wanting to increase the preformance since it's running on vista. it's an emachines T3638. It has an ECS 945GCT-M3 motherboard in it (I'm quite certain). What I'm wanting to know is has anyone flashed the BIOS to unlock the limited overclocking options and/or the ability to upgrade the processor to something better than a celeron 420. By flashing the bios I should be able to upgrade to a standard core 2 duo in the future If I want to. I'm sure someone here has flashed a computer manufacturers bios back to the mobo manufacturers bios to gain better options. Please let me know if you have had success doing this.

thanks,

I know this post is outdated, but it still comes up on a google search. I have successfully flashed the motherboard with the ECS Elitegroup bios. Overclocking options are there, but be aware the board obviously does not overclock well atall. I got an extra 7 mhz out of my e1200. :heink:

Any idea if this board will support an upgraded processor though ?

I upgraded to a p4 3.4 ht from the celeron d 360 3.4 without flashing emachines bios. It is nice to hear it is possible because a couple of years ago i stumbled on this page and now i know it can be done.

I upgraded the bios from ECS website, and the CPU fan is on full all the time.
How the heck do I stop that?
