It won't pair well. It will be very difficult to overclock. Quads do not go well with 650i and 680i motherboards.

The most you'll probably get is 2.8ghz (if you're lucky).

I've put the q6600 with that exact motherboard....highest oc i got was 2.6Ghz.

Others have gotten higher clocks but the time spent trying to stablize the oc is just not worth it.

I ended up getting a p35 mobo.

hi

just getting this as an filler till nehalem ....... how was the board at STANDARD clocks ? i only have an ati x1900xt , so i suppose overclocking wont help that much .

Was your board at least stable with the quad ?

yes...it'll be stable at stock speeds. It just won't oc well.

thanks , for the info . i suppose if it is stable , i will be happy.

if you haven't got the p5n e sli board....why not get the gigabyte p35 boards.

I have the quad paired w/gigabyte ep35c ds3r. You'll be amazed at how easy it is to reach 3.2Ghz. The board is also very solid and stable.

are you running sli...if not, why get a sli board.

kinda funny reason ... my display card refuses to boot if it is in a 16x slot , but if i change that slot to 8x it works fine !!!! now all p35 boards have 16x on both slots . this board has 8x if you put it in sli with the card !!!!

this is how my current board was working !so if i get this board , i dont have to buy a new displaycard as well .

You said SLI, but you said you only own a X1900XT from ATI.

You said you have an nVidia chipset, and only an ATI card.

Throw that nVidia chipset out and replace with a P35. Besides, nVidia and ATI are competitors, so it doesn't surprise me that you're having problems getting the full power of your X1900 with that board.
