I was having problems with my Zalman 9500.. My E6400 was running at around 52c idle.. I remounted it a couple of times and reapplied thermal compound.. I got it down a couple degrees with remounting.. Then I decided I should try another Fan.. I bought the Freezer 7 Pro.. Its now the second day since I installed the Freezer 7 Pro and its at 33c.

Not bad at all.. I figure most of my problems with the Zalman 9500 were due to mounting... Unless the 9500 just sucks as a cooler.. I'v seen lots of reviews on the 9700 model but not on the 9500.

Anybody running an E6400 w/ Zalman 9500? Whats your temps?

dunno if this zalman was featured in a toms review, but i saw a couple with the big red letters "FAILED" stamped over them.

and freezer 7 wins in terms of budget/mid range coolers according to anand.
It was so inspiration, that I myself have bought one last night online for my non-oc'd system. Was $15. Im a bit leary of open box stuff, but I think I can trust these as a recert. (if not 15 day return is plenty of time to send it back)

Price wise, Zalman does fail. But those series of cooler reviews from TH were horrid. I wouldn't trust them.

Zalman hasnt had a new cooler come out in ages. The freezer 7 pro is half the price of those Zalmans and performs the same, usually better. Only get a zalman if you have a copper fetish or like dingy blue led's.
