Hello THG Friends,

I would like to build a gaming pc without getting to crazy with the price ! Maybe
$2500.00 . I play CCS,BF2,COD-4,Crysis. I don't think I want water cooled, because I don't want to overclock. I just want to build a good system & leave it alone. This is my first build. I will use Intel CPU. I think to save some money I could use a E6850 for now, Games don't really use quad power yet. Maybe Crysis.

Questions in Mind !

Mobo northbridge- 680i/P35/X38
Nvidia make great cards, but I don't care for SLI "Special drivers" I would use
Crossfire or one 8800 card.

#2) Ram
DDR2/ maybe 1066 or DDR3/1333-1600

At this point I will look & listen to all links and help ! I don't care about wifi or multi-media stuff.

Hello and welcome to the forums mate :)

1_P35 is the best bang for buck now if u dont need SLI, it supports current 1333MHZ CPUs + next gen 45nm CPUs

2_None, get DDR2 800, because DDR2 800 doesnt have a lot of difference with DDR2 1066 and also DDR2 800 wil OC very well

I recommended DDR2 over DDR3, because DDR2 is cheaper and also the difference between DDR2 and DDR3 isnt much (%0-%10)

I agree. P35 Does have bang for the buck. From what I've seen in reviews
if using DDR2, i680 is King. Does anybody agree with that ? I agree that
price vs performance DDR3 doesn't look good. Then seeing a review about 780i
only using DDR2 ! Like I said I'm looking for the best gaming performance. If SLI
drivers weren't so behind (Nvidia) ? I would still look at that.

I'm building a gaming PC right now, too. I've done all that I can to find the best price/performance ratio and still be able to play modern games, like Crysis for example. You can use my build, as it is similar to what you're looking for, as an example. The price for my build was $1045, but that's after two items I found on sale. You'll have plenty to change up if you want to.

Mate if u want to go with technology u cant buy a new thing, so dont think of 780i

also who has said that 680i is the DDR2 king ?You cant say that 680i is better than P35, both are good
get a P35 board(if u dont need SLI ) or a 680i (If u need SLI ) and enjoy
