Lo guys,

Well this is my first time building, so any comments would be great. I'm just wondering about the spec, it doesn't seem great for £450.

CPU - E4500 http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=632057 £73

Mboard - Asus P5K iP35 http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=590765 £70

Memory - 2 x 1G http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=527001 £26

GFX - Alpha Dog 8800GT http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=692062 £176

HD - 80Gb Western Digital http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=567851 £27

Fan - Akasa AK965 http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=608228 £12

DVD-RW - http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=636643 £17

Plus 450-500watt PSU and case £30-35

Total £450-£460

Finding it hard to stick to a budget, but around the £450 mark is what I'm really looking for. Anything there that could be upgraded? How's the spec looking in general?

Cheers! :sol:

Not sure bout across the pond, but 160GB drives are $3-5 more than 80GB drives. A few bucks well spent. Make sure you get a good PSU, hate to zap that 8800GT with a "budget" power supply. There are good 400w PSUs for ~$40 here in the US. A few dollars well spent there too. All in all, looks real good.

Alpha Dog 8800gt? If that doesn't sound redneck....was the Justin Timberlake movie big in Europe?

The Corsair 450vx is a great budget PSU that can be had for about $50 after rebate in the US.

Make sure your case has at least a 120mm intake and exhaust fans.

Cheers guys.

Would a 400w be enough for it? Had a chat to a couple of people I work with and said I might have to rack it up to 500w. Thought that was a little excessive though . . . . .
