CMS recommendations

Hello people,

I've been using ExpressionEngine 2 for a while, but there's a fair few bugs that are making life difficult. A lot of people are telling me EE is crap now and that the devs aren't making much effort with it any more. So I was wondering what a good PHP-based alternative would be? I like how EE mostly lets me do things as I want and pull in EE functionality where needed.

I'd also appreciate any recommendations for e-commerce CMSs (or systems that are good for both e-commerce and non-e-commerce sites). I had heard Magento is a good system, but I've also read quite a few negative opinions of it. I used OScommerce years ago, but didn't like it at all and it had major security holes.

So I'm really just after systems that are secure, stay out of my way when not needed (nothing too 'in your face' that tries to do everything) and above all, relatively glitch-free (and I suppose in pretty active development so that bugs are addressed fast). Thanks for reading :-)
