Hi,
I have a WD5000AAKB that fell down from my CD's storage box (that is about 5 inchs high) while the it was powered. Since, when I power it up, I can hear a buzz (it's normal) that comes shrill and stops (that's not normal). It does that noice 5 times then stop. I can feel that the electronic card of the hdd is a bit hot near the rotor connectors (E51..E53). So, my rotor seems blocked.
I don't know anything about the "Shock Guard" system that is on thoes HDDs but I would like to know if it can block the cylinder.
Thank for your answer,

Sylvain

Hi,
No more warranty, so there is nothing to do :( . The rotor is actually stuck.
I can't believe that I've lost my hdd owning to a mechanical issue.
Thank you
