Hello everyone,
I am building a new system for the first time and I need to find an inexpensive nice PSU.
I am very low on cash ($50) and am looking for a 300-450w PSU
Looking at a Rosewill Stallion RD400-2-DB ATX V2.2 400w PSU- $31.99 @ newegg.com
Here is my setup:

Ultra Aluminus Case
Ausu Striker Extreme MOBO
Intel Core 2 Duo 6750
nVidia 8800gt video card (Pre-OC to 640MHZ)
2 sticks of kingston 1gb DDR2 PC6400
Samsung 500GB Hard dirve, 7200RPM
2 Cold Cathodes
2 120mm fans

I plan to upgrade the PSU in the future when I obtain enough cash.
Thanks

NO ROSEWILL!...they are garbage beyond garbage....Garbage that has festered inside garbage for years upon years, do I make my point?...Let me get you something a bit better...

Any of these should do, unfortunately, there are no tier 3 psu's under the 40 dollar mark. They are all mostly at the 50 dollar mark...check these out...the Silverstone ST is the best of all the choices, it's a Tier 2 psu, meanwhile the others are tier 3, the rosewill you selected is tier 5, the worst you can get.

not on the tiered list, which doesn't mean it's bad, just probably a newer unchecked model. Personally, I think you should just bite the bullet and pick something from the list I posted, those are all guaranteed tier 3, you don't want to take a chance on power supplies, if a cheap power supply dies (which happens very often due to low quality components), it can take your computer with it. Better to pay the little extra and make sure you have a quality power supply. If I was you, I'd save up an extra 20 or so and get that tier 2 silverstone, but if you can't any of those tier 3 will do.

Good advice, you may have to spend 400+ more if you don't get a good PSU.

Indeed, I've seen many people screaming "WHAT HAPPENED TO MY COMPUTER?!?!", only to hear their computer is emitting a burnt smell, and they bought a new psu but their rig won't turn on. It's really not worth getting cheap psu's....not worth the risk. Why spend so much on a computer and gimp out on the most vital part?..not smart to me...

So what are the disadvantages with the ATX V2.0 compared to the v2.2 (if there are any).

How about this one (if I had the money)

Here's a pretty good deal, very good power supply.

I would agree, the corsair is a fabulous psu for that money. The FSP's are OK, the Antec is better, and the Silverstone better yet, but if you can scrape up the cash, the corsair is best. I also couldn't agreee more that it would be foolish to do less than these.
