Total Price: $1687.89

I was wondering, because my friend offered suggestion on the DFI Dark Mobo i have listed, if i should switch to a better one. I was originally going to get a MSI p6n Platinum but have opted to get the cheaper mobo instead. I was also wondering if there is anything i should change or switch or if there are any prices i can cut by opting to get something else cheaper. I am really trying to keep it at 1500 or below since that is my budget. Is tehre anyway i can cut it by another 187 dollars?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Thanks a lot for the bit of info, it seems i can trade off in price between a better mobo and a cheaper psu. Still very good things all in all. I've ordered my ram so far because the deal is going off soon. Ill probably order the rest when more gt's are available.

$1687.89 for an 8800GT PC? $500 can buy one. There are a lot of wastes on your list. The PSU is frakking overkill. 8800GT PC needs around 425W 28A. The router isn't even wireless. The ram is overpriced. The mobo is last gen.

The WDxxxxAAKS (or KS or JS) series hard drives are a good performers. The Raptors are nice, but they aren't going to help much during gameplay. The system boots faster, file loads are quicker, apps load faster, etc, but if you can put up with a few more seconds on startup, you can save $60-80.

See if you can get a 20" LCD any cheaper. They are have the same resolution, but lower pixel pitch, which results in a crisper micture, IMO (I have both sitting side by side at my store).

He bought Memory already

Even 500W for the PSu is fine, did you want an additional Hard Drive for more storage, say a 500Gb.
You may consider with a cheaper PSu and Motherboard, and like singingigo said, drop the raptor, maybe you could SLi those 8800gt, or possibly wait for the new GTS, it shouldn't be long now.

Yeah get a P35 (unless u wanna spend a lot on a 680i one). I got the GA-P35C-DS3R and it is so stable for overclocking and great performance for the price.

I think you can sharpen your shopping skills.

Case: Almost any case with at least a 120mm input and 120mm output fan will work. There are some much cheaper alternatives out there. Pay particular attention to free shipping, cases are heavy. The antec900 is $119 with free shipping, and there are deals floating around.

HDD: I love the raptor, but if you are on a budget, consider a less expensive option. It won't make much difference in games.
I don't know about the selected monitor, but if you can generate any extra cash, that is where to spend it. A good quality minitor is what you will see and use for a long time. Don't go cheap there.

Router: You can get one fro free. If you buy windows vista, they have a new hardware bonus pack. Among the freebies is a D-Link DGL-4300 gaming router. worth $140.

The seasonic is a fine PSU. It is a bit of overkill; the 550w model at $115 after rebate would be ok. The corsair 520hx at $110, or, my favorite, the PC Power & cooling silencer 610 at $119.99, directly from them.

I like the rest, don't change a thing.

---good luck---
