New CPU, need help.

Hello, im a total hardware noob and need help finding a new CPU that is compatible with my PC.
All i know is that i am currently using a AMD athlon II x4 630 propus 2.8ghz AM3 95W 45nm

No idea on motherboard type, every scan i run it just shows up as dell xps 7100.
Just installed a gtx 560ti and 7gb of ram for gaming.. its a very cramped space as of right now. 700 watts of power if that matters.

Can i use a 32nm cpu even though my current cpu is 45nm?

A good upgrade would be something like the Phenom II 965BE or the Phenom II 945 if your motherboard cannot handle 125w.

However, we cannot know for sure until you find out your motherboard. Look for actual physical model numbers on the board itself. It's usually written somewhere.

I believe Dell used a 95W board on that PC. That means you will be limited to 95W (or less) processors. AMD processors of that era are becoming scarce, so you may be forced to look to someplace like ebay for an upgrade.
