Hi guys, i'm about ready to start trying to optimize my rig but first i want to make sure the hardware is preforming up to it's full potential at stock settings. Here are my system stats

OS: Vista Ultimate (64bit)
Processor: Q6600 (with G0 stepping)
CPU cooling: Thermaltake V1
Mobo: Asus P5N32-E
GFX card: XFX 8800GTX
RAM 4 1gig sticks of PC6400 DDR2/800 Dual Channel Memory (Mushkin Xtreme w/ Heat Spreader)
HDD: RAID-0 2 x 250GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 8MB Cache 7200RPM HDD [+44]) And one more 250 out of the array as a data drive

If i'm forgetting anything else important let me know.

My 3dmark06 score is: 11284 3Dmarks

My 3dmarkVantage score is: H3202 3DMarks This was done on the "high" setting which i assume is where the H comes from, i don't have a monitor that can support the extreme benchmark

Detailed 3dmark06 info:

3DMark Score - 11291 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score - 4769
SM 3.0 Score - 4861
CPU Score - 3342

Detailed Vantage info:

3DMark Score - H3202 3DMarks
CPU Score - 8463
Graphics Score - 2885

Please let me know if there's anything i should be doing before overclocking to make sure all my hardware is in good shape. Thx!

Looks like your set, everything is normal for stock.

How long have you had the system built? You want to make sure all your parts are good at stock before you start OCing.

6 months.. but i have a warrenty on everything (which is why i want to make sure everything is ok *now* before i void any of them), and i benchmarked it today and 6 months ago and got within 10 points on 3dmark06. I mainly wanted to make sure no hardware was sub-par and needed to be returned. I'll also be posting my load temps soon to make sure they are what they are supposed to be at stock.

Good, it's always best to make sure everything works before you stress anything.

Sounds like everything is ready to be pushed to its limits :)
Good luck with it.

Axil, Down load and run Core Temp, the newest version, and pay attention to your VID field! When you see it, run a powerful program, just to make sure it doesnt change under cpu power drainage, then list that here for me?

Believe it or not, that will expose where your chip "should" be able to OC to, barring other factors like Mobo and junk.

Thanks!!

ok, i plan on getting together a list of temps and i'll download Core Temp as well for the vidfield (i've been using Everest and Prime95 thus far)

Hm, i ran Prime95 for 4 hours today and i got an error in two processors my temps got up to between 43c and 49c, but when i came back according to taskmanager they were not being stressed at 100% anymore (they were when i left) I know that the inside of the case is a little dusty, i guess i'll try a can of compressed air and hope that fixes it.

The VID is 1.2375v When i ran prime95 it didn't move, but i only sat there and watched it for about a minute, do i need to be watching it the whole time or can i leave for an hour and come back to see if it moved?

just bumping this up since since i had provided the info people were asking for, also last run of prime95 went for 8 hours, highest tempature reached was 51, though it rarely stayed above 48 for long i think ambient is around 20c-22c
