Why not just sell the card on ebay and buy a new PCI-E one? You can get much better performance than a 7600GT for very little cash, HD3850 is less than £100 and is more than twice as powerful.

point taken but the would involve me buying a whole new rig and i woudlnt go cheap on it as im not wanting to purchase a new comp right now so its just a temporary thing

thats all

AsRock 4Core Dual-VSTA has support for DDR1, DDR2, PCI-E, AGP and Core2Duos and Core2Quads, nice stepping stone upgrade board.

Unfortunately, AFAIK all the current AGP motherboards use only third-tier chipsets, with all their associated problems.

Hi,

my girlfriend use an asrock 4coredual-sata2 with E2160/6600GT AGP/2GB DDR2-667, no problems.

I reused 2x512mb DDR1 at first, then got a deal for some ddr2 ram.

the ASRock looks good but im not looking for an upgrade path with a board like that. I only want this board so the 7600 can keep going bit more.
I think the MSI has everything i need and it can take an AM2 Socket AMD CPU.
The ASRock looks good as it takes socket 775 Intel which obviously are better than the AMD equivalent CPUs. The ASRock also isn't compatible with DDR2 800 RAM where the MSi is.

I'm not familiar at all the these chipsets features but they seem to provide ur basic needs.

Arguably the MSI has the better north bridge because of the DDR2 800 support

honestly, its not really worth getting the ASRock board or anything similar, just save up some money and do an overhaul...it really wouldn't be cost effective to do a halfass upgrade

Hang on... let me get this straight. You want an AM2 motherboard with support for DDR2 and AGP, because you have an AGP card lying around. Tell me again why you can't sell your AGP card, buy the PCI-E version, and instead get an AM2 motherboard with support for PCI-E and DDR2.

You're buying a new motherboard, not sure where the rest of the "I don't want a complete overhaul" part comes in.

You could probably get more money for you AGP7600GT on ebay than you would spend on new PCIexpress 7600GT

There is one board listed at newegg with am2, ddr2 and agp support. It should be one of the first boards listed, once you select "lowest price" for the search software.
