I have just finished setting up my first homebuild. The setup is:

* Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 2.4GHz
* Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 Heatsink and Fan
* ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2 Motherboard
* 2 x 1GB DDR2 PC-6400 800MHz Dual Channel Memory
* ATi Radeon 9600 Pro Ultra AGP x8 GPU
* Maxtor 80GB IDE Hard Drive
* Maxtor 30GB IDE Hard Drive

I also have a 120mm front intake and a 80mm side intake fan as well as a 80mm rear exhaust and a thermatake 80mm system pci exhaust to cool the system.

I'm curious about overclocking the CPU. I'm interested in safe ways of testing the system to see how far it can be pushed without damaging any component.

Any help on overclocking the cpu would be massively appreciated!!!

Thanks for that. I've read through it before posting but am struggling to understand it all. Just want some simplified step-by-step for a complete noob simpleton really.

My temps at the moment though are 25 degrees celsius for the motherboard and 27 degrees celsius for the CPU.

CoreTemp 0.98.1 shows Core#0 as 20 degrees and Core#1 as 22 degrees. SpeedFan 4.34 shows the VCore at 1.30/1.31 too.
