Hiya!

Hope we have some people experienced (when it comes to hard drives) around here, 'cuz I'm really in a daze right now. I ordered a new hard drive. A Trekstor 1TB external drive. I was amazed in how today's technology has made such amounts of storage space available. It feels like yesterday me and my fellows stood amazed on how man had smashed the 1000MB bounder, taking the term "gigabyte" from server rooms till everyday households. Now it's sort of the same, but with terabytes.

However, back to the topic.

The disk was pre-formated with FAT. However, I reformated it with NTFS (a project that took it's while, hrhr). Anyways, now, I've been filling it up with my old video footage archives, family photography, etc. Lots(!). I'm just a bit worried. Every now and then [note: sometimes once in an hour, sometimes just once every five hour, still.. "now and then" ] thea drive gives away this high-pitched squealing sounds. Almost like when you scratched cutlery against kitchen china, if you know what I mean. It gives me the creeps, I must say.

I've tried "rationalizing" the issue with "The drive probably just needs some time warming in, adjusting the oil level in every little chamber", and ideas like that. But when the day comes to an end, I'm still a bit worried. I ordered the disk over an e-company, so any process of returning/making an complaint about it would be a long process, living me stranded with a disk ((that may not even be injured!!)) for not-sure-how-long. Not sure I wanna go there, not if it's probably no biggie. I mean, I havn't had any CRC errors or what-so-ever. Just that noise, a couple of times. So, what d'ya guys say? Should I be worried?

I'm thankful for every opinion.
Sorry for sloppy English, I'm from Scandinavia ;)

Regards,,
Carl.
