So I have been beating myself senseless over this nonsense..

first and foremost eveything I run is stable and good..

I have the 790FX chipset and i am using an 8800 gt.

i wanna sli but i know i cant due to chipset..

so...

should I go Q6600 with an 780i nividia chipset?

or should I hang tight for that 780a to come out.. god knows when that is happening cause that was supposed to go down a while ago..

the lack of AM2+ support for SLI is getting kinda lame IMO.

also, anyone have any good things to say about the 9850 BE? I fried my 9600 BE. I was doing a little too much wishful thinking on trying to get it to break the 2.6 mark, and i failed LOL.

thoughts, suggestions.. or am i just crazy??

i had to revert back to my 6000+ OC'ed to 3.4 for the time being until I figure out what I wanna do as far as processors are concerned..

I wanna stick AMD for i already have the latest and greatest chipset for it.. but for the video side im being pulled to Intel... and I really like the Q6600 OEM. Got my buddies to 3.6 stable on water. I know I can give it more its just his memory cant take it..

Q 6600 all day long!

Wait.. I know what you can do! Slam another 6 pack!

Then get a p5k-e wifi for 150$ and a OEM q6600 and get to work!

AMD won't mind as long as you were intoxicated or F'ed up on Mary Jane!

Of course once you did that you'd have to OC your video card to high heaven as well.

And you'll want some good RAM for that 475+ FSB that old board can get! That's some pretty fast in sync ram!

Its kind of like a downward spiral.

I have been looking at this option. that sounds good for the price. I will look into at tiger / newegg / clubit. Seems to definately be the most viable option at this point in time. I'll be more interested in the p5k-N for the nvidia.

Bah, humbug! The only AMD junk I have is a Phenom 8400 x 3 and a Phenom 9500 x 4. So far its sat on my floor in a final build configuration with no other activities, because Intel is so much funner!

I will warn you! 650/680I chipset wont OC worth the $hit! You may get 2.8-2.9 from a quad. The 780i chipset can get the 3.6 easily, and real easy when you do the VDroop mod on the board!

Yes, SLI is neat, but to bad NVidia cant release a bios that OCs with quads!

Just fair warning if you insist on getting a 680i/650i

However, there is ONE guy in our forums that I have talked with that has one at 3.2 Ghz. So I think its about 5-10 % of the boards manage to OC for whatever reason, while the rest do not!

WOAH!! thats something to think about.. so p35 chipset is the way to go apearently..

i guess i really expect everything to OC, and the fact that the 780i chipset wont OC is a real downer..
