Flashing screen, invert error

a friend of mine wants to play Links Golf and did so for a while but now after a short time the game screen flashes between the game and the the desktop and between task manager. it's very difficult to read what it says the error is. we are stymied.
the message says something about an INVERT error.
she downloaded and installed the latest video drivers and reinstalled the Links golf game. nothing is working. she simply cannot reformat the computer and i dont live near to her. does anyone have any suggestions? i'm sorry that i can't tell you what the entire error message is.

oh, aside from this game going weird, the other computer functions are ok.

Check the event viewer to see if the error is logged there.

start-->control panel-->administrative tools-->event viewer
The error would likely be logged under applications or system. Look for a red X, with the time stamp of when the error happened.
