My friend bought a barebones kit that was pretty cheap and it came with the foxconn winfast NF4SK8AA motherboard. He purchased windows vista and when he turns on the machine it says media disk failure please hit enter. Then it says to insert an operating disk and he does and hits enter. Then it just sits on a black screen with a cursor blinking on the top left over and over and it doesnt go anywhere. When mine said the same thing and i enter my disk, it installed vista. Anyone have any suggestions? thanks in advance

Check the BIOS to see if it is booting to the DVD drive first. If it is trying to boot to a blank hard drive, then this is the error you'll get. Sometimes the BIOS is also preset to boot to a floppy still. If you do not have a floppy drive, disable the function along with "boot up floppy seek" if your BIOS has that feature also.
