Hey guys,

I have 2 80mm fans in my computer both rated for ~1600rpm. One always reverts back to 800rpm each time the computer is rebooted. Is there a way I can make it stay at 1600rpm? I'm running the fans through my mobo (Intel d865perl).

I would look for fan controls in your bios and turn them off. Doing this SHOULD cause your fans to run at full speed. Be careful when doing this, just in case it doesn't do this properly, for safety.

Sooo easy...take the fan control off...make sure they are on 12v+ (yellow) and not 5v+ (red)

This MIGHT require some modding.

I forget, but something I bought came with a molex (hard drive and cd drive connector with 4 pins) connector to 4 3 pin connectors for fans, 2 12v+ and 2 5v+.

You should look into one of those.

Where do you live? Try frys if you are near one.

If you want to try something software, try speedfan.

You could cut/remove the wire that gives it the RPM reading, this will force the fan to run at 100%.

Or

use a fan controler

Call me crazy.. but..

4 Pin = PWM fan control.

3 Pin = 12v, Common, Sense.

12v being the variable changed to adjust fan speed without the 4th pin for PWM control. Sense being the yellow wire which is just a feedback to monitor RPM. I could be way off, but I can run my fans without a yellow wire. I can also cut the yellow wire and feed it back to just the motherboard to monitor RPMs while I have the power to the fan coming from elsewhere.

i want to be able to monitor that they are running at fulls speed and i have no molex connectors left for them. In other words they gotta go through the mobo, they don't have long enough cables to reach the front of the case, if i bought a fan controller. Thanks for the input, I guess I'm stuck putting it back to 100% when I boot.
Thanks again for the input an help.
