For some reason, my external HD has suddenly decided to stop working. Each time I try to get into it I get an error telling me I have to format it before I can use it. How or why this is happening I don't know, but I do know that about 400GB of my personal files are trapped there and I desperately need help in retrieving them.

Also, something I noticed while trying to sort this out is that the file type is now "RAW" when it used to be NTFS (or fat32, I don't remember).

Can someone please help me?
