Have purchased Noctua NH-U12P and almost got an heart attack (http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show [...] g=en&set=1

IT DOES NOT FIT in my WaveMaster case: http://www.3dvelocity.com/reviews/wavemaster/tact0.htm

I was buying the most quiet CPU cooler I could get, and now it doesn't fit.

So could you help me pick alternative cooling where the most important factor is "being QUIET" and not being bigger than 150mm.

Until tomorrow I have to decide what to do, please help.

Not understanding why it won't fit. Have you tried installing it with the MB plate in the case while the PSU is out of the case? I see it does have a movable tray:

So I can understand if your having problems putting the HS on the MB while its out of the case, and trying to slide it back in..

Can you explain what you've at least tried? :??:

It's not a problem how to install it. The problem is, the case weights 198mm and the Noctua 160mm. So far, so good.

The problem is, motherboard comes 40mm inside the case, becouse the movable part takes or it's located as written 40mm into the case, which leaves in theory 160mm of space. In practise as I have measured there is only 155mm of space left and the Noctua is arround 160mm + CPU.

I haven't tried it in practise but as I have Noctuo in hand and measured the space, it comes 50mm out of the box.

Well.. I use a tuniq tower.. which is only 153mm height wise. The side panel on my case is clear, and it has at least 1 inch left to spare.

I'd say it should be able to fit, but it will be perhaps be a tight fit.

Nice! :)

But mine wont. Noctua is 160mm and I have 153mm of space ... So even a tight fit wont do! :(

Hmmm... well, you could try getting that tuniq, which I did link above, and if you are going to send it back.

At newegg for $44.99, has free shipping on it now.

I was going to advice perhaps the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme, but that even sits at 160mm.

The Zalman 9700 stands 142mm..

Zalman CNPS9700

There was another HS I had in mind, but can't seem to remember what it was called.

Edit:

It looked like this one:

Which is : Thermalright SI-128 SE CPU Cooling heatsink - Retail $59.99

I kinda like that one, since it does help could MB components, with a fan of course.

Well Zalman is to noisy.

I am considering Noctua NH-U9F (the same as NH-u12P but 92mm instead od 120mm), but it's out of stock at the time. Will have to call in tomorrow and see how it goes.

Just not shure how it compares to other coolers regarding quietness ...

And the hight of the cooler should not be over 145mm ...

The newegg does not help as I'm from Europe, but tnx anyway!

Hehe.. well, I kinda figured NewEgg wouldn't be a shopping place for anyone, although it helps give you an idea of a product you could get in your area.

The Scythe Ninja 'Mini' is only 115mm tall.

Just using the newegg link as a point of reference. I rarely shop at newegg since they charge me tax (they have a distribution center in Memphis, TN which is where I live), but I use them for research/recommendations etc...

Hmm... but over Ninja Mini I would rather go with Noctua NH-U9F ... as I was reading reviews it's suppose to be one of the most quiet cooler in it's class ...

Go to www.silentpcreview.com for some reviews of quiet heatsinks. Look at their recommended list: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article30-page1.html
