I checked the settings in my bios (GA-P35C-DS3R) and the multiplier is "7" with frequency set at "300" to give a CPU speed of 2300. This is inline with the rated speed for the Intel E6550. However CPU-Z shows that the multiplier is 6 and that the speed is 2000. Which is correct ? Is there another CPU speed check that I can use for a second opinion ?
Thanks.
O00ps ..my apologies, I did not search the forum properly. I searched for "speed" only. I should have included "CPU-Z". Lots of questions on the same issue.
Thanks.
i swear this gets asked 2-10 times a week. Some times i wish people didnt know about programs like CPU-z so they couldnt get this info. Or at least worked out where the search button was on the forum too look up your common problems
Chookman, so you were born with innate PC knowledge? Or did you have a friend/brother/dad who helped you so you never had to ask questions. Yes, search is good, but only if used right and with lucky/smart searches. And we all ask, but at different levels.
I think we'd all be better served if you had said, " Hey, did you use the search function for 'CPU-Z'? You'd probably already have an answer".
Best to keep your anger at the masses for not being perfect to yourself, you will save time and not be considered a PITA.

How long have you been reading/cruising this forum?
This question gets asked 3-4 times a week at a minimum, it's fairly obvious why people get annoyed.
A while. And why the big deal of people asking for help? And if your so elite why are you here reading this board? Toms is a great place and very popular to newer peeps looking for help and ideas.
It's best to keep my mouth shut if I don't have any advice or don't feel like replying with the requested help.

It's not YOUR board, it's everyones.
Who said it was a big deal?
It just gets a bit old when the easiest solution is to make it a sticky. That wasn't a shot at your post count either, so don't take it that way. I see this question asked a lot, Chookman normally is just fine with giving an answer. The answer was already given and Chookman made a comment about it being a common issue.
Perhaps you should take a page of your own advice.

Yep, we should. I'm sure Chookman's reply was a big deal to malam. We all help when we can, but biting at the asker doesn't help keep this place happy and friendly. Again, best not to reply if it doesn't help, thats an age-old forum adage.
Ask Tom to make a sticky I guess, I can't since my post count isn't worthy.

I apologise to OP, it wasnt supposed to be degrading in anyway it just gets frustrating when this gets asked so often. Im sure if you used the search button to find a few of these threads i have actually answered with the correct answer on more than one occasion.
The thread that cnumartyr actually linked to was an effort to get something explaining this stickied but was ignored, ive posted there again to bump it for review again and may continue to do so if these threads keep getting created.
Conumdrum sure i ask questions but i make sure that i have researched or looked for the answer as much as possible to avoid frustrations. I also find that comming across the answer on your own is alot more rewarding and it generally gets remembered. Most of the knowledge i had before i came on here was self taught through reading, and i actually come here for three main reasons. To attempt to help people with what i know, To read and listen to other knowledgable people to gain more knowledge on matters i dont know. AND intelligent discussion on something that i enjoy.
