So i uploaded my CPU-Z information to the internet today and noticed my RAM frequency is incorrect.

http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=292424

As you can see it is running at 412.3 MHz when it should be running at 800 MHz. Do i need to change the link between the CPU and the ram? I don't know if what i just said makes any sense, but i just saw CPU/7 and that came to mind.

Thanks for reading. :)

You're ok. My pc3200 shows 200 in cpu-z, even though the actual speed is rated at 400. It has to do with the dd, which stands for double data. The speed is measured coming and going, not just one way. Someone else may have a better explanation.

What exactly is the advantage of using DDR3 then? They have slower timings, and according to your explanation have the same frequency.

Can anyone explain this to me please?

DDR3 is designed to support much higher frequencies than DDR2.

But the DDR - Double Data Rate - design is the same: the memory is active on the positive and negative side of the clock
