I have problems with my computer. I get the normal one beep which means i have no ram problems. Once I'm in windows and am doing normal things, the hard drive will stop spinning and then I have to reset my computer. So, I thought it was the hard drive. So i went out and bought a brand new 500Gb SATA hard drive. Same Problem. Sometimes, when it will stop spinning, it will happen at the same place. Could it be that my motherboard is not telling the hard drive to spin? This doesnt happen in the bios though.

How do you know the hard drive stops spinning?
iF it's when the little red light goes out, that's normal.

Refering to WindowsXP, in the Control Panel, Power Options, Power Schemes, are the settings to turn off the disk and monitor after a period of time to save energy.

Mine are all set to Never.
