Ok, so my question would be comparing say, HIS's catalyst drivers versus the one straight off of ATI's website.
Is the HIS driver and catalyst suite any different, and if so, how?

Also, would this affect the performance on my X1950 Pro, by using HIS vs normal or vice versa?

Whats the point of having manufacturer drivers vs normal drivers?

the general rule of thumb is that you use the latest drivers that give the optimal stable performance.

indeed, i am not sure they are different, what makes them HIS drivers btw?

When you buy a graphics card, they give you a cd with the drivers on them, plus, you can go to the manufacturers website.

I was just wondering if there would be any difference between HIS's driver option off of their website and the normal drivers off of ATI.

I have a HIS X1950PRO and I cannot tell the difference except ATi drivers are more up to date.. I could only get 7.8 drivers from HIS

All right, thank you though =]

Does anyone know why the HIS driver pack is so big?

Probably for multi langauges.

it could just be the noral ccc size or there could be added bloatware. the reason i ask is that afaik there is no difference and that they only give you the driver on the cd for those that do not have an internet connection and they will put it on their website for customers who may head their first i assume.

tbh, i have only used ati's site apart from the ones off of the cd so i am unsure.
