im building a new pc for myself....mainly for gaming and video encoding, and i looking for the best DDR2 motherboard from ASUS to OC...as im planning to OC massivley.
i have 8800GTS 512....DDR2 1066 Dominator with fan...750watt thermaltake tough power PSU...1TB HDD samsung...koolance-exoc2 external watercooling unit...the CPU will be E8500 when it comes out.
i've read hundreds of benchmarks and threads, but they all seem to be missing some critical issues.
so im asking you ASUS users out there: whats the best DDR2 mobo from ASUS to OC?

thanks in advance

You cant say what is the best, because for example : i have P5K-E WIFI and i managed to get 3.2 out of my E6600 with 1.3 voltage but u may see someone that has P5K-E WIFI with E6600 but he cant do the same

ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA (X38) and ASUS BLITZ FORMULA (P35) are very good boards and there are very good reviews about them too

MAXIMUS FORMULA reviews:

Other good ASUS P35 boards are P5K series like ASUS P5K, P5K-E WIFI....

I just built a new system with this board...it is a monster!!!! No voltage / heat issues like the Maximus Formula...and it is built on the same PCB as the Maximus Formula and uses very high components:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131219

I plan on moving to a Quad processor once they are released, but for the time being...here are the specs of my machine:

Core 2 Duo E6750 (2.66 GHZ)
Asus P5E
2 x 1 GB of Crucial Ballistix Tracers PC8500
2 x 1 Western Digital 74 GB 10,000 Raptors RAID 0
XFX 8800 GT Alpha Dog (640 / 1650 / 1900)
Thermaltake Toughpower 750 Watt Modular PSU
Soundblaster X-fi Extreme Gamer Fatality Pro
Samsung SH-203B 20X DVD Burner

The board shipped with bios 302...I immediately updated to 501 (502 has the same thermal detection problem that Maximus Formula has, where CPU temps are between 7-10 Degrees C). Beware...on this board, when you flash...you may have to clear the CMOS...when I updated the machine rebooted to a black screen. Clearing the CMOS brought it back...I wonder if the people at Asus really have a handle on this...

All in all...Excellent board...PCIe 2.0/x38 chipset/ICHR9/Marvel Gigabit LAN. The onboard sound is a small PCIe soundcard that fits in the upper PCIe slot above the video card...and is excellent, but I already had the X-fi and am very pleased with it. The P5E is a great board...and still in it's infancy stages. I can clock my Crucial Ballistix to 1066 4-4-4-12 with voltage set to 2.15.
